The philosophy of attention
Freedom, love and football
He who thinks clearly, lives clearly...
With the philosophy of attention, Finn Janning asks the question: How can we establish a more loving connection with the world and each other?
Using football and cycling as a starting point, Janning shows how the individual can explore the possibilities of existence and gradually become wiser - about himself and others. This philosophical wisdom is existentially clarifying, in that he who thinks clearly lives clearly.
Janning gives several suggestions on how to train clarity, but first and foremost it is about an empathic and intuitive ability to feel, which enables the individual to accommodate what is happening. This is precisely where football is exemplary, because what happens to a player also happens to the spectator.
The book presents a poetic philosophy. A particular approach or attitude to the world that is attentive, open, problematizing, decisive and liberating. An approach that sets man free to love.
In addition to sport, the book draws inspiration from, among others, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Albert Camus, Simone Weil, Gilles Deleuze and Iris Murdoch.
